Prepare audio capture before the presentation
Open the webinar on your Mac and confirm that you can hear the presenter. Check the organizer’s recording conditions and prepare the audio-recording workflow in Whynote. Capture system audio for the presentation, adding your microphone if you also want your questions or comments.
In Settings → Permissions, check system-audio access and microphone access if you plan to use it. Make a short recording of an available section and listen before the main session starts. If the sound is missing, use the Mac recording audio checks to isolate the source.
Record the session or open an available file
Start webinar audio recording in Whynote and confirm that the presentation is playing on your Mac. As you listen, note terms, examples and questions you want to revisit. Keep your own comments clearly separate from the presenter’s words, especially if your microphone is included.
If you already have an available webinar audio file, open it with Add Files. The Mac audio transcription guide explains file import. A webinar page URL is not a substitute for a saved recording and does not guarantee that its content can be imported.
Check specialist terms against the audio
Review names, numbers and unfamiliar terminology after recognition. A model can turn an unfamiliar term into a similar-sounding word, so check important passages against the audio or the organizer’s available material. Leave an unclear passage marked rather than completing it from a guess.
For local recognition on Mac, prepare the model using the offline setup guide before the session. Summaries, text enhancement and account synchronization are separate stages. The local-processing privacy guide explains those boundaries.
Build notes around what you need afterward
In Whynote on Mac, open Summary and choose a suitable style, such as Detailed, for a first draft. Generation uses an internet connection and requires the relevant Pro access. Review the draft against the text and keep what helps with your own work or study.
- Main idea: the question the presenter explored and the conclusion they reached.
- Terms and examples: definitions and cases that explain the topic.
- Things to check: unclear claims, numbers and unanswered questions.
- Your next steps: what you want to try, separated from the presenter’s recommendations.
Keep advice and forecasts framed as advice and forecasts. Their appearance in a draft summary does not turn them into established facts. The lecture notes guide uses a similar review process for study material.
Continue with an available recording on iPhone
Whynote on iPhone can import an available webinar audio file through Import Audio or Video so you can work with its text. Use the Mac workflow above to capture presentation audio playing in another app. On your phone, you can record your own thoughts as a separate voice note after watching.
Before sharing notes, check whether you can pass on the material and remove personal comments the recipient does not need. If the discussion led to team commitments, move them into an action list with owners and due dates. Keep the presentation notes and the team’s agreed actions distinct.
