Dictation on Mac and voice notes on iPhone

Speak a draft in Whynote instead of typing every line. On Mac you can insert recognized text into supported fields; on iPhone you can record a voice note and turn it into text inside the app.

Get Whynote and start with your recording

Whynote keeps your recording and helps turn the conversation into text you can use. Choose the Mac or iPhone app to start a voice note or import an audio file.

Choose where you want the text to go

For a reply or draft in a Mac app, follow the Whynote dictation setup. Choose a shortcut, check the microphone and insertion permissions, then try a short passage in a blank note. Dictation history gives you somewhere to return if a supported field does not accept the text.

On iPhone, record your thought in Whynote and work with the transcript inside the app. This keeps the original voice note available for review. It does not replace the iPhone system keyboard or insert speech into every app.

Try a short passage before a longer draft

Speak a complete thought that includes a name or a number you can easily check. Stop the recording, wait for recognition and read the result. Correct important details before sending the text or moving it into a document.

On Mac, you can add Auto-Replace rules for recurring corrections after the basic workflow is working. For a recording you already have, go straight to the file transcription guides instead of playing it into another microphone.

Check recording and insertion separately

If no words are recognized, check the microphone, language and selected provider. If the result appears in history but not in your Mac editor, check the active text field and insertion permission. Try a blank note to see whether the problem belongs to that field.

Local recognition on Mac needs its model ready before you disconnect. Follow the offline preparation guide and check the dictation setting separately from the provider used for meeting notes. Online text enhancement has its own connection and plan requirements.

If a short test fails, use the Mac dictation troubleshooting guide. It separates starting, audio input, recognition and text insertion.
